HOOK-UP AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS DELUXE AA QUARTZ TIMER
DESCRIPTION
This is a self contained, solid state, integrated circuit control unit, which uses a 24 hour quartz timer capable of feeding one or more times per day. The motor unit operates on a 12-volt gel cell rechargeable battery. The quartz timer operates on a single "AA" size cell battery. This timer is pre wired for solar panel hook-up to binding posts on side of container. Solar panel lead wires require ¼" spade or ring terminals. We recommend the Gel Cell battery be placed on its side with mounting posts on your right side in our Deluxe Models. And in up right position in our Standard Model.
CONNECTION
The motor unit is ready to connect to a 6 or 12-volt gel cell rechargeable battery. Always make sure you have connected the positive red terminal to the positive red battery post and the negative black terminal to the negative black battery post. RED TO RED AND BLACK TO BLACK. Caution: Incorrect connection can result in circuit damage. This is not covered in warranty. While it can be repaired if is a temporary hook-up and corrected right a way. If it is left unchanged will burn up your board and then circuit board will have to be repaired or replaced. Make sure you always use keep your battery well charged; a weak battery can cause your motor to cycle (cut off and on or run all the time) this not only wastes your corn, but it can eventually burn up your circuit. This is not covered in warranty.
CLOCK SETTING
The clock operates on a "AA" battery. To change or install battery reach behind the panel at the "POS." and "NEG" labels. Make sure you install your battery polled correctly.
To set clock to correct time, turn black knob in direction of the arrows to the Set Time Arrow. Always turning clockwise. DO NOT TURN THE FACE! Damage to clock will result.
The clock is set to feed at 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. When trippers hit switch at set arrow, motor will run. If a different feed time is desired, trippers can be removed. To do this, hold face of clock with one hand while carefully pushing trippers off (this will prevent face of clock from turning while removing trippers). Replace trippers at desired feed time. If only one feeding time is desired, remove one of trippers. For easy removal of spring steel trippers push them off with the back side of a pocket knife blade or a similar object. Or perhaps a coin.
OPERATIONS
The PRESS TO TEST switch operates the motor. As a safety feature, test switch will not function until clock face has passed trippers. This takes about one hour. It takes 21 seconds for capacitor to recharge. PRESS TO TEST can operate every 21 seconds at other times.
The variable resistor marked RUN TIME on controller will allow the "ON" time to range from approximately one to twenty seconds. Turning it counter clockwise will produce more run time.
The amount of feed-out is controlled by the run time setting on controller and distance of spinner from feed shoot. The operator can adjust the two settings to vary the amount of feed dispersed. A distance of about 5/8 to ¾" is adequate.
For Deluxe Models We recommend the battery be placed on it's side with the battery posts on the right side (door side of feeder.
